Treeful Treehouse

okinawa, Okinawa, Japan | treehouse

Handcrafted treehouses in UNESCO-listed Yambaru jungle, where ancient forest meets Okinawa's turquoise coast.

About this stay

Nestled in the subtropical forest canopy of Okinawa's Yambaru region — a UNESCO World Heritage jungle — Treeful Treehouse offers an extraordinary living-among-the-trees experience unlike anywhere else in Japan. Each handcrafted treehouse sits 5-8 meters above the forest floor, connected by rope bridges and wooden walkways. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls dissolve the boundary between indoors and the wild, while the open-air terrace lets you listen to endemic Okinawa Rail birds at dawn. The property sits minutes from pristine coral beaches, offering the rare combination of ancient forest and turquoise sea. Solar-powered with rainwater harvesting, Treeful embodies genuine eco-luxury.

It was beautiful! Being deep in the forest was the best getaway experience to have, the treehouses were very clean and well kept, the service was excellent, the staff were very friendly. I’d also like to mention that no one really bothers you while you’re here but the times I did interact with the staff they made sure I had everything I needed. Sakura was my guide when we did the small river trek, she is very kind. I came during the off season so I had the whole place to myself, hearing the birds chirp and river flow was very pleasant. I’m hoping to come back during the warmer season, but either way, rain or shine this place would still be a good place to stay. Ohh and the treehouse has a heater that you can use!!

The experience was great. Frist time ever staying in an actual tree house. The tree house had everything you need with bathroom, small kitchen items for coffee and plates and cups. And a small fridge to keep items cold if needed. The short river trek was enjoyable and they even have water shoes and pants for you to borrow incase you didnt bring them. And the dinner was amazing! Very delicious and filling soba! Highly recommended, I would definitely come again to check out the other tree houses!

Beautiful place with a beautiful goat! Donna was super friendly and the workers were too! The location is absolutely breathtaking and serene, and I recommend any guest to go on the river hike to enjoy the stunning scenery. The amenities are great and eco friendly, and the owners missions is so admirable! The architecture is beautiful (coming from an architecture student)! 😍😍 For those wondering about the goat waiver you need to sign, don’t worry! Donna is so nice! 🐐

The place is absolutely stunning! The staff are warm, welcoming, and incredibly kind. The rooms are beautifully designed, with thoughtful attention to every last detail. A very special thank you to Taylor, our wonderful host, who taught us how to prepare a traditional dinner and was gracious, attentive, and highly professional throughout our stay. We would be delighted to return again in the future and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly memorable experience.

Had a wonderful experience here, the staff were all lovely and the rooms and treehouses are beautiful. I love the importance put on nature and sustainability. The sukiyaki dinner was such a unique experience and the fresh bread and fruit smoothies for breakfast were a highlight. I would definitely come back and stay for longer next time!
